Open Fences for Fairview’s Ranch-Estate Lots

Fairview’s motto is Keeping It Country, and its fence code backs that up. The town’s ranch-estate zones start at one acre in RE-1 and run up to three acres in RE-3. Fences here must stay open enough to see through, so we usually recommend iron, pipe or open wood. Crews drive up to Fairview from our Allen office, a trip of about 10 to 15 minutes.

An RE-1 lot is at least 150 ft wide at the front building line, so a Fairview fence is a long run. It often passes trees, a pool, a dog run and a driveway gate. We walk the line with you, then put the layout, materials and timeline in writing. You also get a project manager you can call.

Fence and Outdoor Living Services in Fairview

Wrought Iron Fence

Powder-coated iron in 4, 5 and 6 ft panels. Thin pickets with wide gaps keep an iron line well inside Fairview’s half-open rule.

Pipe Fencing

Welded pipe posts and rails, with no-climb wire added where horses graze. It stays open to the eye, so it fits the town code on pasture lines.

Gates

Iron, pipe and wood gates for driveways, paddocks and side yards. A welded steel frame sits inside every wood gate we build, which keeps it square on a long drive.

Gate Automation

An automated entry gate at the end of a long Fairview driveway. We install swing or slide operators and set up the keypads, remotes and access control that open them.

Agricultural Fencing

Woven wire and farm fence for pastures on lots where the town allows one grazing animal per acre.

Wood Fencing

Open picket and spaced-board styles in stained cedar, built so at least half the face stays see-through. Solid cedar privacy fences are not allowed on most Fairview lots.

Chain Link Fence

Fairview allows chain link only inside a lot, so we build it in galvanized or black for the dog run, the animal pen or the garden.

Custom Patio Covers

Shade over the back patio, designed to match the style of your home, with integrated lights available.

Pergolas

A cedar pergola for the pool deck or patio, stained before assembly. A polycarbonate top is an option, and a 3D rendering shows the design first.

Built for Long, Open Runs on Acreage

In Fairview, no more than half of a fence’s front face can be solid material. Iron pickets, pipe rails and spaced boards meet that rule and still mark the line. On a run that crosses an acre or more, every steel post is driven 4 ft into the ground so the fence holds its line from the road to the back corner.

Gates see the most use on a big property. Wood gates are built on a welded steel frame, and an iron or pipe gate can be fitted with an operator later. Our fence and gate workmanship is warrantied for life, for the full time the land is yours.

Black Iron Fence on an Acre Lot

Powder-coated iron on steel posts driven 4 ft deep. It meets the open-design rule and keeps the mature trees and lawn in view, in a style the HOA board reviews first.

Pipe Fence With No-Climb Wire

A pasture line of welded pipe rails lined with no-climb wire, set back from the road edge, with a pipe gate into the paddock.

Black Iron Pool Barrier on a Custom Lot

Iron around the pool at 4 ft or taller, pickets close enough that no gap passes 4 in, and a gate that closes and latches on its own, as Fairview’s pool rule requires.

Fence Rules and Recommendations for Fairview

Iron, Pipe or Open Wood on a Fairview Lot

For the lines you see from the street, we usually recommend black iron. It reads as open, which is what the town code asks for, and it suits a custom home. Out back, where horses or goats graze, pipe rails lined with no-climb wire keep the animals in. If you want wood, pick a picket or spaced-board style that leaves at least half the face open, and keep chain link inside the lot for a dog run or garden.

Fairview Fence Height and Material Rules

On residential property in Fairview, fences can be 6 ft in side and back yards and 4 ft in the front yard. Screening walls can reach 8 ft. They are mainly allowed between a home and a nonresidential use and need evergreen planting along the outside. Every other fence must be open, with no more than half of its front face in solid material. Solid wood privacy fences are not allowed except in the CPDD district or where the code allows screening, such as between lots when a PD or PC zoning ordinance says so. Allowed materials include vinyl, wood, wire, iron, metal, stone, brick and block. Chain link may only be used inside a property for dog runs, animal pens and gardens, and any chain link run of 50 ft or more must be screened from view. No fence can sit on town right-of-way or a road easement, or within 10 ft of the pavement edge of a public street. A pool needs a fence of 4 ft or more, no opening over 4 in, and a gate that shuts and latches by itself. Your HOA can set stricter rules on top of these. We hired Lowery Fence Company to replace the back fence and one side between our house and one of our neighbors, and they exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, they were professional, communicative, and delivered exactly what we wanted — if not better!

Unfortunately, we share our fence line with two neighbors, and the other neighbor chose to go with a different contractor they knew. Seeing the difference between the two companies firsthand, I can confidently say that Lowery Fence is the company you want to go with. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and overall customer service truly stood out. I only wish we had used them for the entire fence!

Highly recommend them if you’re looking for quality work and a company that genuinely takes care of its clients.

Everyone on their crew were so kind and really helped us out by using their knowledge to better assess our needs. We had to wait an extra day because of some rain but as soon as it was clear they were out working and didn’t waste any time!

How One Fairview Homeowner Went From Chain Link to Iron

A Fairview homeowner planned a chain link fence along the property line, and the town turned it down. Fairview only allows chain link inside a property, for dog runs, pens and gardens. So the plan changed to iron. Iron is open, it meets the town’s rule, and it is what we built.

Chain link is a common first choice for a dog run or a long property line. In Fairview it only works for the first. We check your design against the town’s rules at the estimate, so the plan you approve is one Fairview allows.
