Fence Company in Little Elm, TX
Cedar and iron fences built to Little Elm’s town code, from our Frisco office.
Fences for Little Elm Tract Homes and Lake Lots
Little Elm went from 3,646 residents in 2000 to 46,453 in 2020. Most of them live in master-planned subdivisions built from the late 1990s on, and many of those yards still have the fence the builder put up. Homes in The Villages of Woodlake went up from 1999 to 2005, so many original fences there are now past 20 years. The drive from our Frisco office takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
The town code decides more of the fence here than a height limit alone. Runs that face a street are cedar board-on-board with a decorative cap, and lots on a creek, floodplain or dedicated open space get black tubular steel. We plan your layout to those rules and put it in a written estimate with a timeline. You also get the name and number of the project manager running your job.

Fence and Outdoor Living Services in Little Elm
Wood Fencing
Stained cedar board-on-board with a decorative cap, the style Little Elm requires on any run that faces a street. It goes up on steel posts driven 4 ft into the ground.
Wrought Iron Fence
Black tubular steel for yards that back to a creek, floodplain or dedicated open space, where the town calls for it.
Fence Staining
Little Elm expects wood fences to be stained. Order your cedar pre-stained or have us stain it once it dries, and we re-stain older fences too.
Gates
Cedar gates framed in welded steel to match the fence, plus black steel gates for greenbelt lines. Decorative gate trim can rise up to 2 ft above the fence.
Chain Link Fence
Dog runs in black or galvanized chain link, set inside the back fence. The town allows other materials on interior fences that sit lower than the outer fence, and stay out of public view.
Custom Patio Covers
Patio covers built to sit right next to the brick and stone on a Little Elm home. Integrated lighting is optional.
Pergolas
Cedar pergolas get their stain before assembly. Add a polycarbonate roof cover if you want one, and approve a 3D rendering before we build.
Concrete
Patio extensions, walkways and driveways in stamped or exposed aggregate concrete.
Outdoor Kitchens
Built-in grills, sinks and outdoor-rated refrigerators, often paired with a new patio cover.
Built to Little Elm’s Fence Post Rules
The clay under Little Elm takes on water and expands, then shrinks again when the summer dries it out. A fence post has to hold its line through both. The town writes part of the answer into its code: galvanized steel posts at least 2 3/8 inches across, set no more than 8 ft apart on a fence under 7 ft and no more than 6 ft apart on a fence of 7 ft or more. Our steel posts are driven 4 ft into the ground, deeper than most of our competitors go, so the line holds through wet springs and dry summers.
Little Elm also wants the wood kept off the dirt. The bottom of a wood fence needs a concrete mow strip between the posts or a 2×6 pressure-treated kick board, so water drains and the boards stay dry. Our wood gates hang from welded steel frames. Every fence and gate we build here comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty, good for your full ownership of the home.

Fence Rules and Recommendations for Little Elm
Cedar All Around, Iron Where the Lot Opens Up
On a typical Little Elm tract lot, the street-facing runs have to be cedar board-on-board with a cap, so we usually recommend the same style on the side and rear lines for one consistent look. Where the yard backs to a creek, floodplain or greenbelt, black tubular steel takes over and keeps the view. Pick a stain color your HOA has approved, since the town also wants the wood stained.
Little Elm Fence Height and Material Rules
Little Elm allows residential fences up to 8 ft, plus up to 6 in for ground clearance and a decorative cap. In front yards the limit is 30 in, the fence must be split rail, wrought iron, picket or decorative masonry, and should generally be 50 percent open; lots over one acre may be exempt. Wood and black tubular steel are the standard materials, while chain link, vinyl, split rail and composite must follow the manufacturer’s specs. Any run that faces a street, including corner side yards, is cedar board-on-board with a decorative cap, finished side out and posts inside, and corner-lot fences stay at least 15 ft from the curb. Fences next to a floodplain, creek or dedicated open space are black tubular steel, and no fence goes in a drainage easement or the right-of-way. At street intersections nothing over 2 ft tall sits inside a 30 ft sight triangle, with 15 ft triangles where a street meets an alley or driveway and 6 ft at driveway and alley crossings. Barbed wire and electric fences are banned except on agricultural property over five acres, and HOA rules can be stricter. Source: Little Elm Code of Ordinances, Sections 106.06.32 and 106.06.08.

Little Elm’s Code Sets the Look of Every Street-Facing Fence
Little Elm’s zoning code reads close to a fence spec. Wood is stained Western Red Cedar, or white wood stained a natural brown or earth tone. Every run visible from a street is board-on-board with a decorative cap, finished side out and posts on the inside. On corner lots the fence also stays at least 15 ft back from the face of the curb.
The rule changes where a lot meets open land. Next to a floodplain, creek or dedicated open space, the fence is black tubular steel. In the Lakefront Residential Overlay around the Lakefront District, the same applies to lots next to public parks and drainage areas. Many yards here need both materials, so we plan the cedar and steel runs together and show you where each one goes.
